What is new with the Chelsea High School Men's Soccer Team 2020/2021?

Chelsea Soccer Homies

Of course, this season hasn't looked the way it should have. However, you can't really do much with a pandemic. Lucky for them the guys were able to have a high school season this year. Spoiler Alert! It was a great season for them.

I could talk about their overall wins, ties, and defeats. I just don't feel that the number of wins or defeats really captures this amazing team. This year, Chelsea had 50 kids sign up to play soccer. That is an amazing number for Chelsea. What is even better is the awesome head coach didn't cut any of them. In fact, he created a varsity team, a JV Blue team, and a JV Gold team to ensure that every kid would get time to play. The teams went from most to a mix of skilled and new players.

Now they started pretty rough, as some might've imagined. Some of the players were out of shape, some new players didn't have the chemistry with each other as the older players had. Each team had a lot to work on and each of them had the capabilities to go far. As the season went on, it was clear the growth every member of the team had. Which, in turn, made the team stronger. Due to the pandemic, there weren't any team bonding activities that could happen. With the way all the players came together, it didn't seem like that. After a few weeks of training with each other, winning together, and losing together everyone really acted as if they were family. It was a really awesome thing to witness from the sidelines.

The most amazing thing that happened this season for the Varsity Chelsea High School Men's Team was ......... drum roll please ...... they won DISTRICTS!!! It was a lot of hard work, sweat, tears, frustration, sacrifice, and teamwork to win the title of District Champs. They earned every part of that title and I am proud of everyone on that team. I am very proud of my younger brother. Since he was the only freshman who played on the varsity team. He also was the only underclassman that got any playing time on the varsity team.
